Senior QA Engineer
Senior QA Engineer – UK QA Team
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior QA Engineer to join our UK QA team. The ideal candidate will be capable of working autonomously across the full testing lifecycle—from requirements analysis and test planning through to execution, reporting, and automation.
This role demands collaboration with project teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality testing outcomes with minimal supervision while driving continuous improvement in quality engineering, automation, and innovative technologies, including AI-assisted testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to understand requirements, mitigate risks, and define appropriate test approaches.
- Produce test estimates, contribute to project planning, and support delivery activities.
- Create and maintain formal testing artefacts, including:
- Test Strategies
- Test Plans
- Test Specifications
- Test Reports (aligned with contractual and regulatory requirements)
- Ensure comprehensive test coverage through risk-based testing, requirements traceability, and quality assurance best practices.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test suites using Playwright and TypeScript frameworks.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements supporting quality, efficiency, and coverage, leveraging:
- Automation tools
- CI/CD pipelines
- AI-assisted solutions

Requirements
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years in software quality assurance, including hands-on experience.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, bridging technical and non-technical teams.
- Leadership or coordination experience in testing activities across software projects.
- Ability to:
- Analyse requirements
- Assess testing risks
- Estimate testing effort
- Define testing approaches
- Experience in creating and maintaining formal, auditable testing documentation (contractual, client-facing, or regulated environments).
- Hands-on experience with Playwright and TypeScript for test automation.
- Familiarity with testing:
- Web applications
- APIs
- Integrated systems
- Proficiency in SQL, including:
- Writing/adapting queries
- Understanding database structures
- Data interrogation for validation/analysis

Desirable
- ISTQB certification or equivalent.
- Experience testing Intelligent Transport Systems.
- Knowledge of test automation in CI/CD pipelines.
- Background in regulated or contractual delivery environments.
- Exposure to AI-assisted testing tools for improving automation and delivery processes.
