About The Role
Nando's is seeking a highly skilled Senior QA Engineer to join our Point of Sale and Kitchen Management System (NPOS & NKMS) team. This pivotal role involves defining and leading the quality strategy for our critical restaurant technology platforms that support thousands of outlets worldwide. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in manual and automated testing, with a passion for ensuring the reliability, performance, and resilience of hardware and software components integral to restaurant operations. As a senior member of the engineering team, you will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and technical leads to embed quality into every phase of the software development lifecycle. Your expertise will directly influence the efficiency and effectiveness of our systems, ultimately enhancing the customer and employee experience across Nando's global locations.
Qualifications
- Proven experience leading QA strategies for modern web, desktop, or mobile applications, preferably in a retail or hospitality environment.
- Hands-on manual testing experience across physical hardware, including Windows and Android devices used in restaurant settings.
- Strong understanding of functional, integration, regression, accessibility, API, and performance testing methodologies.
- Experience designing and executing comprehensive test plans and release validation strategies.
- Proficiency with automation frameworks such as Playwright and Maestro, with experience testing Flutter applications.
- Knowledge of JSON payload validation, backend API integrations, and test management tools like Testmo or similar platforms.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations and collaborate effectively within Agile teams.
- Enthusiasm for adopting emerging testing technologies, including AI-assisted testing approaches.

Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive quality strategy for Nando's Point of Sale and Kitchen Management products, ensuring high standards before deployment.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve manual and automated test plans covering hardware and software components.
- Perform hands-on validation of restaurant hardware such as tills, kitchen displays, receipt printers, and payment terminals across Windows and Android platforms.
- Coordinate release validation activities, ensuring all systems are production-ready and meet operational requirements.
- Monitor post-release performance, swiftly investigating and resolving any issues to maintain system stability and customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with software engineers to enhance testability, quality, and confidence in releases throughout the development process.
- Build and maintain automated testing frameworks, leveraging modern tools like Playwright and Maestro to streamline testing workflows.
- Support various testing activities including API, integration, end-to-end, accessibility, regression, and performance testing.
- Utilize test management systems such as Testmo, contributing to process improvements and quality assurance best practices.
- Leverage observability tools and production insights to enhance platform reliability and user experience.
- Promote accessibility, resilience, and operational excellence as fundamental engineering principles within the team.
- Evaluate and incorporate emerging technologies, including AI-assisted testing, to optimize testing efficiency and effectiveness.
