Senior QA Engineer – Nando’s Point of Sale & Kitchen Management System (NPOS & NKMS)
Overall Ambition
Help shape the future of Nando's at-counter customer & employee experience by building quality into every stage of delivery. You'll play a key role in ensuring our at-counter experience is reliable, accessible, performant and delightful for millions of customers and Nandocas.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer to join our passionate, lean, agile, fast-growing, evolving and tech-loving team on a permanent basis. The projects we are working on are innovative and will change the fast-casual dining experience forever.
As a senior member of the team, you'll own the quality strategy across our at-counter and kitchen management products, balancing rigorous manual hardware validation, comprehensive test planning, and robust release stability monitoring to ensure we deliver exceptional customer and Nandoca experiences at pace.
Living the Nando's Values
As a Nandoca, you'll embody the values that make Nando's unique. We are looking for people who:
- Pride – Take ownership of their work, hold themselves to high standards and care deeply about delivering quality outcomes.
- Passion – Bring energy, curiosity and enthusiasm to solving problems and creating great customer experiences.
- Courage – Challenge the status quo, embrace change and make informed decisions, even when faced with uncertainty.
- Integrity – Act with honesty, transparency and accountability in everything they do.
- Family – Collaborate openly, support teammates and contribute to an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
These values shape how we work together, make decisions and build technology that moves Nando's forward.
The Role
As a Senior QA Engineer, you will be responsible for defining and orchestrating the overarching quality strategies for our innovative at-counter point of sale and NKMS (Nando's Kitchen Management System) applications. Stepping away from maintaining deep automated test scripts, your focus will be on designing robust test plans, managing manual validation strategies, and ensuring post-release stability.
You will relish tackling complex real-world scenarios, particularly executing manual validation against bespoke Point of Sale hardware, kitchen screens, and edge devices. You'll be comfortable working independently to replicate intricate bugs reported from the field and can run effective sessions with peers on your team to ensure our final release candidates meet the absolute highest standards of reliability before hitting the restaurants.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About the Point of Sale and NKMS Team
Our team aims to transform the at-counter experience for Customers and Nandocas globally. The goal is to replace the existing legacy POS providers with a truly best-in-class solution. This is a largely greenfield project to replace the existing POS systems with a bespoke Nando’s built system. This will seamlessly integrate with and build upon our existing, highly successful digital ordering and NKMS (Nando's Kitchen Management System) products to create a spine of Nando’s ordering technology.
This project is based in the UK but will be used in Nando’s globally (Australia, South Africa, USA, UK). This provides exciting challenges around localisation, configurability and cultural understanding.
The point-of-sale system covers the assisted ordering experience, creating an exciting opportunity to build highly responsive, state-driven interfaces that seamlessly integrate with our NKMS platform, backend menus, payments, and order systems. It also provides an opportunity to explore frontend resiliency (such as offline modes), as ensuring restaurants can continue to trade is critical.
Responsibilities
- Define and lead the quality strategy across our at-counter (POS) and kitchen management (NKMS) products.
- Design, manage, and execute comprehensive test plans tailored specifically for applications deployed on restaurant hardware and edge devices.
- Perform rigorous manual testing and validation directly against physical hardware, ensuring software interacts flawlessly with POS tills, kitchen screens, receipt printers, and payment terminals.
- Monitor post-release stability, proactively identifying issues and replicating complex bugs reported by in-restaurant teams.
- Actively engage with feedback from restaurants and global markets, translating operational challenges into actionable quality improvements.
- Actively collaborate with other members of the team across all disciplines.
- Use monitoring, observability and production insights to continuously improve customer and Nandoca experience and platform reliability.
- Champion accessibility, performance and operational quality as first-class engineering concerns.
- Explore emerging technologies, including AI-assisted testing approaches, where they provide genuine value.
