Senior QA Engineer
Edinburgh (5 days on-site)
£70,000 - £80,000 + benefits
We're working with a growing technology business that develops complex software and embedded systems for customers operating in highly technical environments. They're looking for a Senior QA Engineer to help raise the bar on quality across a range of products and projects.
This isn't a role where you'll simply pick up a set of test cases and execute them. The QA function is still evolving, so they need someone who enjoys building processes, defining testing approaches and helping shape how quality is embedded throughout the engineering lifecycle.
You'll be joining a collaborative engineering team and working closely with Software Engineers, Product teams and stakeholders across a mix of web, software and embedded technologies.
What you'll be doing
- Defining and improving testing processes, standards and best practices
- Creating test strategies, plans and documentation from the ground up
- Designing and maintaining automated tests using Python
- Testing web applications, which make up around 40% of the environment
- Supporting integration, system and regression testing activities
- Working alongside C++ software development teams throughout the development lifecycle
- Helping drive a quality-first mindset across engineering teams
- Contributing to customer-focused projects and product releases

- Strong background in software testing and QA
- Experience building or improving testing frameworks, processes and documentation
- Test automation experience using Python
- Experience testing web-based applications
- A proactive approach with the confidence to challenge and improve existing practices
- Strong stakeholder and communication skills
Nice to have
- Embedded Linux testing experience
- Exposure to hardware or firmware testing
- Experience within networking, telecoms or communications environments
- Knowledge of signal processing or network technologies
- Previous mentoring, leadership or management experience
