Senior QA Automation Engineer

We're partnered with a well-established insurance business with over 1,000 employees across the UK who are continuing to invest heavily in their technology and digital teams. As part of this growth, they're looking to hire a Senior QA Automation Engineer to join their collaborative engineering function based in Liverpool.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in shaping automation practices within a mature engineering environment. You'll work closely with Software Engineers, Product Managers and fellow QA professionals to ensure high-quality software is delivered across a range of web and mobile applications, while helping to drive best practice across the testing function.

The role

As a Senior QA Automation Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining scalable automation frameworks, improving testing processes, and embedding quality throughout the software development lifecycle. You'll be expected to champion automation, mentor other members of the QA team, and contribute to the ongoing evolution of testing standards and tooling.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
