Senior Quality Engineer

Quality Engineer – Aerospace Fuel Systems | Titchfield, Hampshire

Located at the Titchfield site, our Aerospace business is a global leader in aerospace fuel systems, supplying fully integrated systems for both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. The site includes advanced test facilities for fuel and air systems, ensuring comprehensive validation under diverse operating conditions.

We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support the Quality Engineering Team, collaborating with all site operations. Your role will ensure production efficiency, product quality, cost control, and employee safety.

About the Role

  • Key Focus: Execute the organization’s Strategic Quality Plan under plant leadership.

  • Responsibilities include:

    • Providing quality assurance support to customers, suppliers, partners, and internal teams.
    • Driving continuous improvement across targeted areas.
    • Implementing a robust Quality Assurance strategy compliant with industry standards, regulations, and customer needs.

    Core Responsibilities

    • Customer & Compliance Support

      • Act as the QA liaison for stakeholders, ensuring requirements are met and fostering collaboration in complaint resolution and root cause analysis.
      • Gain expertise throughout the Quality Assurance process, from product design to post-delivery support.
    • Supplier Quality Management

      • Act as a subject matter expert for suppliers, analyzing quality data and helping meet product/process specifications.
    • Quality Systems Development

      • Design, implement, and refine quality management systems across operations.
      • Offer advanced quality planning for new products, processes, or services.
    • Process Auditing & Documentation

      • Lead audits of internal systems and prepare Part Approval Documentation to validate product compliance.

  • Data & Process Improvement

    • Analyze QA performance metrics and propose corrective action plans.
    • Collect and evaluate statistical data to drive quality improvements.
  • Training & Skill Development

    • Collaborate on and deliver quality-related training programs.
  • Support for Product Development

    • Engage in design reviews, testing, reliability analysis, and material evaluation for new offerings.
  • Diagnosing & Resolving Complex Problems

    • Evaluate mild process control challenges and interact with experienced team members on high-impact quality issues.
  • Instrumentation & Equipment

    • Participate in the procurement, calibration, and evaluation of test instrumentation.
  • Team Coordination

    • Coordinate with peer Quality Engineers to assess site/customer/product status and action strategies.
  • Team Leadership (Occasionally)

    • Draft quality-related tasks or manage Quality Engineer teams as needed by management.

Key Requirements

  • Educational Background:
    • A degree in an engineering discipline (beneficial, not mandatory).
    • Six Sigma (Black Belt or equivalent) credentials are advantageous (not mandatory)—though knowledge of problem-solving frameworks (e.g., root cause analysis) would benefit long-term structural development.

Essential Skills & Expertise

Technical Knowledge

  • Expertise in manufacturing quality assurance methodologies (e.g., MRB, ERB, ISO/TS 16949).
  • Lean Manufacturing and Process Capability (Six Sigma) principles.
  • Safety & Risk Assessment experience.
  • Embedded Systems & Test Standards for defensive (uptime) validation requirements.
  • Surface and subsurface testing + mathematical models of fluid behaviour.

Industry-Specific Awareness

  • Familiarity with automotive, aerospace, and defence supply chain code instruction.
  • Understanding of SLA metrics (deliverables,Nm) and product line customer specifications.

Certifications & Competencies

  • Working knowledge of problem-solving methods (e.g., Six Sigma, 8D, Root Cause Analysis) including statistical tools.
  • AS9100 Family Standards, ISO9001 recognition for quality system compliance.
  • Cryptographic Methods and Standards (for document control) considered highly desirable.

Essential Personal Qualities

  • Strong problem-solving and logical critical thinking.
  • Good understanding of relationship management techniques.
  • Willingness to supervise or collaborate across departmental lines.
  • Strategic and structured organisation typical of UK culture in related industries.
