The Southern Renewals Enterprise (SRE)
The Southern Renewals Enterprise (SRE) is responsible for delivering the Southern Region's ambitious renewals programme across CP7 and CP8. Bringing together a wealth of expertise, SRE will develop, mobilise and deliver a transformative £9 billion programme between 2024 and 2034.
At the heart of SRE is the Southern Integrated Delivery (SID) - a fully integrated commercial partnership between AtkinsRéalis, Network Rail, Octavius, VolkerFitzpatrick and VolkerRail. By combining our collective strength, capability and knowledge, we take shared ownership of delivering this vital renewals programme.

About the role
Senior Quality Manager
Are you passionate about improving how major infrastructure projects are delivered?
Network Rail is looking for a Senior Quality Manager to lead quality assurance, governance and continuous improvement across our Works Delivery business. This is a high-profile role that combines quality leadership, stakeholder engagement and performance improvement, helping ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with industry standards.
This role goes beyond traditional auditing. You'll work with project teams, senior leaders and supply chain partners to identify opportunities for improvement, implement practical solutions and drive a positive quality culture across the organisation.
A key aspect of the role is leading and influencing our extensive supply chain network. You will chair quality forums with more than 15 supply chain partners, creating opportunities to share best practice, improve performance and embed consistent quality standards across project delivery.

Key Accountabilities
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of Network Rail's quality management systems, governance frameworks and assurance processes.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, supporting teams to identify root causes, implement improvements and sustain better performance.
- Lead quality assurance and governance activities across construction and project delivery environments.
- Provide expert advice and assurance relating to CDM requirements, quality management and project governance.
- Develop and lead quality improvement initiatives that deliver measurable business and operational benefits.
- Monitor quality performance metrics, identify trends and provide insight to senior leaders.
- Chair and facilitate quality, assurance and continuous improvement forums across the business.
- Lead engagement with more than 50 supply chain partners through structured quality forums, driving collaboration, best practice sharing and performance improvement.
- Build strong relationships with project teams, contractors, consultants and senior stakeholders to influence quality outcomes.
- Ensure effective governance and assurance arrangements are in place across projects, contracts and business activities.
- Identify areas of non-compliance and lead the development and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
- Support the development of a positive quality culture that promotes accountability, learning and operational excellence.
Your experience and skills
Essential Skills and Experience
- Significant experience in a quality management, business improvement, performance improvement, construction management or project delivery environment.
- Experience working within construction, infrastructure, engineering or major project organisations.
- Strong understanding of quality management systems and assurance principles.
- Knowledge of CDM regulations and the application of governance across Principal Contractor and Principal Designer activities.
- Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and delivering measurable business improvements.
- Proven ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working with contractors, suppliers and supply chain partners to improve quality performance.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional improvement activities within a complex organisation.

Desirable
- Membership of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI), IRCA Lead Auditor qualification or similar professional recognition.
- Experience leading quality assurance, governance or performance improvement programmes.
- Knowledge of the rail industry and infrastructure sector.
- Experience chairing improvement, assurance or governance forums.
