Senior Quantity Surveyor - Construction & Engineering
Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step in your career with a well-established and growing construction and engineering business?
We're recruiting on behalf of a respected contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality construction and engineering projects across the UK. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they're looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team based in Chester.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering complex projects while working within a collaborative and supportive environment that genuinely values its people.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll take commercial responsibility for multiple construction and engineering projects from pre-contract through to final account. Working closely with project managers, clients, subcontractors, and the wider commercial team, you'll ensure projects are delivered profitably while maintaining strong commercial controls.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of construction and engineering projects.
- Prepare, review, and negotiate subcontract agreements.
- Produce accurate cost forecasts, budgets, and cash flow reports.
- Manage valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.
- Identify, assess, and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
- Monitor project costs and ensure commercial performance targets are achieved.
- Evaluate subcontractor applications and certify payments.
- Manage variations, compensation events, and contractual claims.
- Ensure compliance with NEC and/or JCT forms of contract.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Support and mentor junior members of the commercial team where required.
- Provide commercial input throughout the project lifecycle to maximize profitability.
About You
We're looking for an experienced commercial professional who can confidently manage projects and build lasting client relationships.
You'll Ideally Have
- Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor ready to step up.
- Strong background within construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure projects.
- Excellent knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts.
- Proven experience managing project costs from inception through to completion.
- Strong commercial awareness with excellent negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workloads effectively.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
