About The Role
Due to continued growth, new project awards and an expanding pipeline of work, Balfour Beatty Power T&D is looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering some of the UK's most significant energy infrastructure projects, helping to connect communities, support the transition to net zero, and strengthen the country's electricity network.
Working alongside industry-leading professionals, you'll take ownership of the commercial management of major infrastructure projects, drive value, manage risk, and support the development of the next generation of commercial talent.

What you'll be doing
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for the commercial management of a major infrastructure project or portfolio of works, ensuring strong commercial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Managing project costs and identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
- Procuring and managing subcontractors and supply chain partners.
- Driving cost control, value engineering and commercial efficiencies.
- Administering contracts with both clients and subcontractors.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Supporting and ensuring compliance with the Gated Business Lifecycle process.
- Preparing, managing and reporting project budgets, forecasts and final accounts.
- Providing commercial leadership across project teams.
- Mentoring and developing junior commercial team members.
- Supporting continuous improvement and best practice within the commercial function.
- Taking ownership of your professional development and working towards or maintaining professional accreditation.

Who we're looking for
We're looking for commercially minded professionals who thrive in a collaborative environment and are passionate about delivering successful project outcomes.
You'll Ideally Have
- Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
- Membership of, or progress towards, RICS, ICES or CIOB accreditation.
- Experience working within construction, infrastructure, utilities, power or civil engineering sectors.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of NEC contracts (NEC3 and NEC4).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to commercial management.
- Strong leadership capabilities and the ability to mentor others.
- Commercial awareness combined with a customer-focused mindset.
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders and project priorities.
