Sphere Solutions are partnering with a highly successful and well-established civils and groundworks subcontractor to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team, based in Exeter.

About the Role
This is a senior commercial role, offering responsibility for overseeing multiple residential and commercial projects, providing commercial leadership, and acting as a key interface between clients, site teams, and the wider supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Leading the preparation and management of valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
- Producing and overseeing valuation matrices, dayworks schedules, and cost reporting
- Full commercial ownership of project spend, forecasts, and cost value reconciliations
- Reviewing contract documentation and drawings, ensuring commercial risks and changes are managed effectively
- Managing cost variations arising from design changes and revised information
- Verifying and approving subcontractor payments
- Liaising with clients to agree dayworks, variations, and commercial matters
- Supporting and mentoring junior commercial staff where required
- Ensuring all commercial processes align with ISO, SMAS, CHAS, and Achilles accreditations

About You
- Proven experience operating as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within groundworks/civil engineering and/or Housing
- Confident managing multiple projects and senior client relationships
- Excellent commercial awareness and contractual knowledge
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (preferred)
