About the Role

Shape the Future of National Infrastructure and Defence

At Babcock, we build a safer, more secure world – together. If you join us as a Senior Quantity Surveyor at Devonport Royal Dockyard, near Plymouth, Devon, you’ll play a key commercial leadership role on some of the UK’s most complex and strategically vital infrastructure programmes.

This isn’t a traditional quantity surveying position. You’ll guide major engineering and construction projects within our Naval Nuclear business, partnering with:

  • Project teams
  • Ministry of Defence stakeholders
  • Supply chain partners

Responsibilities include commercial leadership, contract administration, and risk management – delivering projects that strengthen national defence while developing your career in a technically demanding, high-stakes environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial management of infrastructure, engineering, and construction projects
  • Support for contract administration, cost control, change management, and compensation events
  • Collaboration with project managers, suppliers, and stakeholders to maximise value-for-money and ensure contractual compliance

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
