Senior Quantity Surveyor

Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor for Civil Engineering Contractor

Salary: £350 - £400 per day + Outside IR35 Type: Full Time Region: UK - London Town/City: City of London, London Reference: BBBH5193_1782745521 Posting Date: 29/06/2026

The Role

We are representing a well-established civil engineering contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex groundworks and infrastructure projects across the UK. Due to continued growth within their London and South East operations, they are looking to appoint a:

  • Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor

to support the commercial delivery of major schemes across London and the surrounding areas.

  • As a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of groundworks packages on large-scale infrastructure and civil engineering projects.

  • You will work closely with:

    • Senior Quantity Surveyors
    • Project Managers
    • Site teams
  • Your involvement will span the entire project lifecycle from pre-contract to final account.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the commercial management of groundworks packages throughout the project lifecycle
  • Procuring and managing subcontractor and supplier packages
  • Preparing:
    • Valuations
    • Forecasts
    • Cost/value reconciliations
  • Supporting the preparation and submission of:
    • Applications for payment
    • Variations
  • Assisting with:
    • Change control
    • Compensation Events under NEC contracts
  • Monitoring costs, identifying risks and opportunities, and reporting commercial performance
  • Ensuring compliance with:
    • Contractual requirements
    • Internal commercial procedures

About You

  • Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
  • Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within:
    • A civil engineering contractor
    • A groundworks contractor
  • Good understanding of groundworks packages on:
    • Infrastructure projects
    • Major construction projects
  • Working knowledge of:
    • NEC contracts (desirable)
    • JCT contracts (desirable)
  • Confident supporting:
    • Procurement
    • Subcontract administration
    • Cost reporting
  • Well-organised, commercially aware, and comfortable working within project teams
  • Willing to work on projects across:
    • London
    • Surrounding regions
