Senior Quantity Surveyor – Commercial Business Development

We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor who blends technical expertise with commercial acumen—someone driven, client-focused, and eager to shape the next phase of FSL Projects’ future. This role is more than project delivery. It’s about ownership, influence, and business growth, with the chance to become a key part of our team and make an immediate impact.
Core Responsibilities
Business Development & Client Engagement
- Actively generate new and repeat business through proactive outreach and strategy.
- Build and retain long-term client relationships across consultancy, stakeholders, and contractors.
- Prepare fee proposals and tender submissions, culminating in presentations to win contracts.
- Identify bespoke opportunities, including upselling and cross-selling our full range of services.
- Attend networking events, client briefings, and industry functions to represent FSL professionally.
Project Delivery & Cost Consultancy
- Deliver high-quality quantity surveying, cost consultancy, and Employer’s Agent services across diverse sectors and project scales.
- Lead on cost planning, procurement, and contract documentation, including:
- Bills of quantities
- Post-contract cost management
- Contract administration
- Provide comprehensive valuation services, layer, foundation, measurement, and construction stages.
- Oversee final accounts, assessment of contract variations, and detailed cash flow forecasting.
- Site visits for regular measurements, progress updates, and accurate cost reports.

Client Advocacy & Strategic Support
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic guidance from feasibility to completion.
- Serve as the Fund Monitor Surveyor representing funding institutions (where applicable).
- Offer real-time problem-solving and commercial insights to projects, ensuring expertise drives value.
Team Leadership & Operational Excellence
- Mentor junior colleagues and foster professional development through practical guidance.
- Ensure up-to-date project documentation and contribute to streamlined internal processes.
- Collaborate with the team to uphold high service standards and excel in client satisfaction.
- Represent FSL Projects (internally/externally) as a key contact and company ambassador.

- Ordinarily holds qualified QS status (e.g., MRICS) or is actively pursuing professional qualifications.
- Demonstrates a strong track record managing multiple projects in varied sectors.
- Elevates interpersonal skills, with a natural ability to build trust, negotiate, and influence clients.
- Passionate about consultancy growth and open to actively participating in business development. Independence and teamwork are equally valued.
- Excited to develop or leverage Employer’s Agent experience or related commercial contacts.
