Senior Quantity Surveyor

About the Role

The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for the commercial leadership of site activities, overseeing junior team members and ensuring margins are protected, risks are mitigated, and commercial objectives align with project goals.

Key Responsibilities

Core Commercial Leadership

  • Manage commercial activities for allocated systems of work under main contracts and subcontracts/suppliers, including:
    • CEMAR administration (Compensation Events Management and Risk Allocation)
    • Identification and assessment of compensation events
    • Proactive EWN (Economic Withheld Notices) management and mitigation agreement
    • Defect notification and close-out processes
    • Payment assessments, certificates, and payless notices on schedule

Financial & Risk Management

  • Support the procurement function in supply chain engagement
  • Identify and realise cost-saving opportunities and revenue maximisation strategies
  • Maintain risk registers, assessing potential impacts and reporting findings
  • Own the reporting pipeline, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost components
  • Monitor time/cost variations, analysing trends, and implementing corrective actions

Contractual & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Ensure alignments between contractors and sub-contractors on EWN/CE processes
  • Advise stakeholders on strategies to sustain and enhance forecast gross margin
  • Coordinate internal team execution of all commercial disciplines

Team Development & Guidance

  • Mentor and develop junior staff members
  • Guide commercial teams on commercial strategy alignment
  • Provide expert advice to other disciplines for cohesive implementation
