About The Role
At Balfour Beatty Power T&D, we're growing our Commercial team in Scotland and are looking for multiple Senior Quantity Surveyors to join us on the BBNP (Beauly, Blackhillock, New Deer and Peterhead) 400kV Overhead Line Project.
Whether you're already operating as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or looking to take the next step in your commercial career, we'd love to hear from you.
You can be based from Glasgow, Inverness or Elgin, with flexible travel arrangements to site and hybrid working options available.
Full-time and part-time applications are welcome. We're building our team and are open to different working patterns for the right people.
We're not looking for candidates who have spent their entire career in the power sector. In fact, Power Transmission & Distribution experience and NEC contract experience are not essential. We welcome applications from a wide range of sectors including construction, infrastructure, rail, highways, defence, utilities, energy and manufacturing.
What you'll be doing
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll take responsibility for managing all costs and income within your area of responsibility, ensuring commercial performance is maximised whilst delivering exceptional outcomes for our customers.
- Managing all commercial aspects of your projects and workstreams.
- Preparing commercial reports, forecasts and financial reconciliations.
- Reviewing and negotiating contracts, rates, prices, variations and compensation events.
- Monitoring subcontract performance and commercial compliance.
- Supporting the preparation of claims and commercial submissions.
- Analysing tender information and developing robust commercial strategies.
- Supporting customer and stakeholder management across your area of responsibility.
Procurement & Supply Chain
- Developing procurement strategies and programmes.
- Managing subcontract enquiries and tender evaluations.
- Supporting supply chain performance and commercial outcomes.
- Undertaking constructability and programme reviews to maximise value.
Leadership & Development
- Supporting the recruitment, development and retention of team members.
- Mentoring Assistant, Graduate and Trainee Quantity Surveyors.
- Sharing knowledge and helping others progress towards professional qualifications.
- Promoting a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

Who we're looking for
Essential
- BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying, or equivalent experience.
- MRICS, MCIOB, MCInstCES or working towards professional membership.
- CSCS Professionally Qualified Person Card.
- Experience managing commercial activities on construction or infrastructure projects.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
