Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You will manage NEC4 contracts, prepare tender documentation and cost estimates, monitor project expenditure, and support the successful negotiation of final accounts. The role also offers the opportunity to work closely with multidisciplinary teams, support commercial best practice, and mentor less experienced colleagues.

What you’ll do:

  • Managing the commercial and contractual aspects of highway projects from inception to completion.
  • Preparing cost estimates, budgets, and Bills of Quantities across all project stages.
  • Administering NEC4 contracts, including compensation events and early warnings.
  • Monitoring project costs and providing financial forecasting and reporting.
  • Supporting procurement strategies and contractor appointments.
  • Collaborating with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients.
  • Negotiating and agreeing final accounts.
  • Mentoring junior team members and promoting commercial best practice.

What we’re looking for:

You will be an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong understanding of commercial management principles within highways or civil engineering environments. Whether already operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor level or looking to take the next step in your career, you'll bring sound contractual knowledge, strong financial management skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.

  • An HND, degree, or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline is required.
  • MRICS status or equivalent experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience of NEC contracts and a commitment to professional development are essential.
