Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor – Renewables England Reporting to: Business Unit General Manager Role Purpose The position involves: Working as part of the Renewables England Business Unit, interfacing regularly with our Operations, Finance and Engineering departments and other support functions. Working directly with local project sites and Project / Site Managers to ensure optimum delivery of projects. Reporting directly to the Business Unit General Manager, this role will focus on ensuring the successful commercial delivery of projects across the BU, providing cost and value management, and contributing to maintaining Omexom’s standards of contract compliance, risk management, and financial reporting. Responsibilities & Duties The successful applicant will ensure the following duties are carried out: Manage procurement processes for subcontractors and the preparation of contract documents. Support the preparation of initial project budgets and thereafter maintain them regularly through the lifecycle of the project. Oversee subcontractor payment processes, including valuation and certification, ensuring compliance with contractual terms. Lead the preparation and agreement of final accounts, ensuring timely project close‑out and settlement. Ensure that a detailed measure of works completed is maintained on an ongoing basis. Oversee the submission of cost/value reconciliations. Maintain labour cost scheduling in conjunction with the Project Managers. Maintain accurate cost reporting systems and associated projections. Oversee the completion of internal monthly cost forecasting and project reviews. Lead the preparation and agreement of final accounts, ensuring timely project close‑out and settlement. Assist in developing and improving all relevant IT reporting and control systems within your sphere of operation. Assist in the estimating process, providing cost build‑ups and cash flow forecasts. Review conditions of contract for tenders and advise on areas of risk. Provide guidance and support to other Quantity Surveyors within the Business Unit, ensuring consistency and high‑quality delivery across projects. Key Interfaces Relationships with key stakeholders: Regional Director Power Business Unit General Manager Client Representatives Project Managers Functional Managers Project Teams Subcontractors Third Party Workforces that may be affected by the works External Consultants Local Authorities Person Specification Qualifications and Experience The jobholder must be a commercially focused self‑starter with the enthusiasm, motivation and initiative to succeed in this role and possess: A third‑level qualification in Quantity Surveying with a minimum of at least five years post‑qualification experience, preferably within a construction, civil engineering, or electrical infrastructure environment. Highly IT literate with experience of applying general/specialist packages within the QS context. Demonstrable experience in negotiating and interpreting standard forms of contracts, particularly NEC and FIDIC. Excellent communication and negotiation skills combined with the analytical skills to reach realistic workable solutions. A strong commercial focus with an ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Ability to use initiative to develop new approaches and improve systems. Flexibility and adaptability to succeed within a demanding business with high levels of motivation and evidence of being a self‑starter. Good decision‑making and problem‑solving skills and the ability to work on own initiative with minimum supervision. Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and be able to negotiate and use conflict resolution skills where appropriate. A flexible/adaptable approach to the job role, working away from home when required and in a fast‑changing business environment. Highly motivated with strong levels of accountability and ownership. Flexibility to travel throughout the UK when required. Desirable Criteria Chartered status with RICS or SCSI. An understanding or awareness of the electrical contracting industry or broader utility environment would be advantageous.
