Senior Quantity Surveyor
About The Role
At EKFB, we’re shaping Infrastructure for a better tomorrow. All four of our partners (Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial, and BAM) bring specialist expertise in designing, constructing, operating, financing, and maintaining railway networks, including one of Europe’s latest high-speed rail projects.
We’re recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Chipping Warden.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor will perform tasks independently—occasionally leading a small commercial team—and complete both periodical duties and one-off tasks in accordance with deadlines set by senior Commercial team members. Responsibilities include:
- Preparing and agreeing variation accounts (main and sub-contracts).
- Monitoring cost control against targets and contract progress vs. accepted programmes and work plans in collaboration with other team disciplines.
- Providing input into change control procedures, including EOT (Extension of Time), delays, and performance adjustments.
- Preparing and agreeing interim valuations, final valuations, final accounts, and sub-contract final accounts.
- Certifying and processing payments to sub-contractors.
- Ensuring contractual compliance, including timely issuance of relevant notices and legal administration.
- Negotiating and resolving contract disputes.
- Identifying and mitigating commercial risks, evaluating mitigation strategies.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
