Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Walsall
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 + Excellent Benefits
An established Tier 1 civil engineering and infrastructure contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team based in Walsall.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects across the utilities, water, transport, energy, and built environment sectors. The role offers long-term career development, exposure to major framework contracts, and the opportunity to play a key role in the commercial success of high-profile projects.
The Role
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of multiple civil engineering projects from procurement through to final account. Working closely with project teams, clients, and the supply chain, you will ensure projects are delivered profitably while effectively managing commercial risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial performance of civil engineering projects from start to completion.
- Prepare and manage monthly CVRs, forecasts, and cost reports.
- Produce accurate applications for payment and cash flow forecasts.
- Procure and commercially manage subcontractors.
- Negotiate subcontract agreements and manage contractual obligations.
- Prepare and agree variations, compensation events, and final accounts.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with operational teams to maximize project profitability.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with company commercial procedures and reporting requirements.

Requirements
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, utilities, or infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of NEC contracts (essential).
- Experience managing subcontract procurement and commercial accounts.
- Excellent cost reporting, forecasting, and financial management skills.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and mitigate risk.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.

- Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Working towards or holding MRICS or another relevant professional qualification.
- CSCS Card.
- Experience working for a principal or self-delivery contractor.
- Estimating experience would be advantageous.
