This is an excellent opportunity to help drive the commercial management of the first live scheme across the whole of the Great Grid Partnership - TKRE Overhead Line reconductoring project.

The role will be a key contributor to the commercial delivery, including main contract administration, financial control, forecasting, CVRs, and the procurement and management of the supply chain.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial delivery within a designated geographic area.
  • Produce accurate and timely commercial reports, forecasts, and advice to support decision-making.
  • Manage subcontract procurement, administration, interim applications, variations, and final accounts.
  • Oversee accurate cost reporting, forecasting, and risk management.
  • Manage upstream and downstream change control processes.
  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all commercial data, documentation, processes, and reporting.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders, including the client’s commercial team.
  • Identify, manage, and escalate commercial risks or issues to senior leadership.
  • Support, mentor, and guide junior commercial staff.
  • Deliver against internal and external commercial performance targets.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of quantity surveying and commercial management practices.
  • Use finance systems (such as COINS) to maintain effective financial controls.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent commercially related discipline, ideally working toward professional membership (RICS or CIOB).
  • Relevant commercial experience
  • Strong background in heavy civils; substation experience is desirable.
  • Essential experience working with NEC3 or NEC4 forms of contract.
  • Supervisory or management experience within a project commercial team.
  • Ability to manage a small team while reporting into senior leadership for strategic guidance.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a delivery-focused mindset.
  • Experience within energy-related or major infrastructure environments.
  • Proficiency using Contract Management Systems (e.g., CEMAR, FastDraft).

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.

Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
