Senior Quantity Surveyor (Contract)
Location: Reading (Hybrid Working)
Contract Type: Contract
Rate: Up to £400 per day (Outside/Inside IR35 subject to assessment)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take responsibility for the commercial management of a project based in Reading. This is a contract position offering hybrid working. The successful candidate will play a key role in cost control, procurement, risk management, and maximising commercial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the commercial management of the project
- Populate and manage monthly commercial reports, including CVR and DES
- Prepare and submit Applications for Payment (AFP) to the client
- Manage and deliver project procurement activities
- Assess and manage supply chain applications for payment
- Compile and agree final accounts with the supply chain and client
- Implement robust cost control measures and drive value engineering
- Identify, manage, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks
- Support and drive maximisation of cash flow and cash collection
- Provide accurate forecasting and financial reporting
- Manage variations, change control, and commercial correspondence
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures
- Work collaboratively with project teams, clients, and stakeholders
- Provide commercial advice and support to the wider project team

Requirements
- Proven experience operating as a Senior Quantity Surveyor on construction or infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of commercial reporting, cost management, and procurement
- Experience managing supply chain accounts and final accounts
- Solid understanding of standard forms of contract (e.g. JCT, NEC)
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proficient in commercial and financial reporting tools
- Relevant degree or professional qualification (e.g. Quantity Surveying, RICS preferred)
