We are looking for a passionate and motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic and driven construction consultancy. Join us and lead in supporting the delivery of a range of complex projects, working on a hybrid basis from our London office.

What Does the Role Involve?

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll take the commercial lead in the delivery of projects, from inception to completion. Collaborate with the Project Team to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to budget, while ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and supporting the development of Assistant Quantity Surveyors and Surveyors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the production and management of cost plans, lifecycle costing, cash flow forecasts, and benchmarking using relevant data sources
  • Oversee procurement activities, including:
    • Preparation of tender documentation
    • Bills of quantities
    • Pricing documents
    • Procurement reports
    • Managing the full tender and evaluation process
  • Manage contract negotiations, prepare and collate contract documents, and act as a key client liaison throughout pre- and post-contract stages
  • Administer contracts as Contract Administrator or Employer’s Agent, including:
    • Issuing instructions
    • Managing snagging
    • Overseeing practical completion
    • Post-contract duties
  • Manage post-contract responsibilities, such as:
    • Interim valuations
    • Cost reporting
    • Change control
    • Evaluation of variations
    • Final accounts
    • Dispute resolution
  • Contribute to and oversee risk registers, value engineering, and value management reporting
  • Support the Associate Director in:
    • Fee bids
    • Resource and fee management
    • Reporting
    • Maintaining client relationships
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop Assistant Quantity Surveyors and Quantity Surveyors
  • Ensure accurate and timely updates to internal systems and sign-off of invoices
  • Maintain quality assurance standards and best practice procedures across all projects
  • Uphold health and safety standards and support environmental and social impact
  • Carry out additional duties as required

Requirements

  • Ideally, hold Chartered accreditation
  • Previous experience working within the construction industry in a similar discipline
  • Strong ability to deliver larger and more complex projects through the whole project lifecycle
  • Excellent technical and project knowledge
  • Ability to delegate tasks effectively and support team members
  • Commitment to the mentoring and development of junior team members
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Experience managing fees and assisting with fee bids
  • Ability to generate new work through client relations management
  • Capacity to work independently to drive new business initiatives
  • Understanding of the account management process
  • Ability to analyse projects and report performance to line managers
  • Excellent knowledge of internal systems and processes to advise and guide others
  • Deep understanding of CDM and construction health and safety
