The Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with strong NEC contract experience.
In this role, you’ll manage commercial performance, lead our commercial team, and shape successful project delivery across a diverse portfolio.
Primary work location is office-based in Warrington (2–3 days per week), working with operational teams, subcontractors, clients, and senior leadership.
What You'll Be Doing
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will:
- Lead and support a team of Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Administrators
- Manage subcontractor accounts, including dispute resolution when necessary
- Drive value maximisation through effective change control and contract management
- Ensure accurate weekly cost reporting, valuations, and Work In Progress (WIP) management
- Prepare payment applications, supporting the business in achieving cash flow targets
- Provide commercial insight to Project Managers, Contracts Managers, and the Commercial Manager
- Support annual budget preparation, monthly reforecasting, and profit & loss reporting
- Build strong relationships with clients, supply chain partners, and internal stakeholders

Who We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS, ideally within structural repair, concrete remediation, highways, infrastructure, or civil engineering (aligned with Balvac’s work)
- Strong working knowledge of NEC4 contracts (essential)
- Skilled in developing and managing subcontract agreements and commercial contracts
- Highly organised, analytical, and confident in communicating with all stakeholders
- Strong IT skills (Word, Excel) with clear, professional presentation abilities
- A team player with integrity, accuracy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
