Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing commercial team in Warrington. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused professional to play a key role in delivering complex civil engineering projects while ensuring financial efficiency, risk management, and contractual compliance.

Working closely with project teams and senior leadership, you will help drive commercial performance across projects while supporting the development of junior members of the team.

The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for managing the commercial and contractual aspects of projects from pre-contract through to final account. You will work collaboratively with Directors, Project Managers, and site teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the commercial performance of civil engineering projects
  • Reviewing tender documentation and contract terms to ensure risk is managed effectively
  • Preparing and managing subcontract procurement and subcontractor accounts
  • Producing monthly applications for payment, cost reports, and forecasts
  • Managing variations, claims, and contractual correspondence
  • Identifying and mitigating commercial risks
  • Negotiating subcontractor and client accounts to achieve the best outcomes
  • Supporting project teams with contractual advice and commercial guidance
  • Attending project and site meetings to represent the commercial function
  • Mentoring and supporting the development of junior members of the commercial team

Qualifications

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar
  • Significant experience within civil engineering or construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of contracts such as NEC, JCT, and bespoke forms of contract
  • Experience managing the commercial aspects of projects from inception through to completion
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members
  • A full UK driving licence
