Building a sustainable tomorrow

The Ferrovial BAM Rail joint venture has a successful history of delivering critical infrastructure for the UK on time and to budget together in joint venture partnership. They first worked together in 2010 as BFK, delivering three Crossrail contracts, including the longest stretch of tunnelling works between Royal Oak and Farringdon and Farringdon Station, the first central station to be completed on the Elizabeth Line. The team has also delivered the Silvertown Tunnel project together in East London and has been delivering excellence at each stage of HS2, such as Fusion JV for the Enabling Works packages, EKFB for the central Main Works Contract and now delivering the track infrastructure across the entire HS2 route.

We are seeking an experienced, strategically minded and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Quantity Surveyor. The successful candidate will play a key role within the commercial team for our HS2 Track contract.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a proven track record of making informed decisions grounded in both experience and data analysis, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritise tasks.

Your team

You will initially be based out of the HS2 project team office near Euston Station (for approx. 2 years), with a requirement to work from other project offices in Buckinghamshire later on as the project develops.

Making Possible

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Experienced in administrating NEC3 & NEC4 forms of contract
  • Management of subcontract accounts
  • Supporting the Commercial Manager and management of the commercial team
  • Maintaining suitable records and supporting audit processes
  • Administer risk and opportunity management processes, ensuring commercial entitlement is maximised
  • Support contract review and monthly reporting processes
  • Work closely with project management and engineering teams and liaise with Employers commercial team and client team.
  • Produce documentation / evidence to demonstrate KPI achievement.
  • Produce monthly cost reports, forecasts, and contract budget reports.
  • Maintain effective, accurate cost control.
  • Identify and provide appropriate, timely information to support change control process.
  • Support procurement team through tenders including producing subcontract documentation.
  • Manage subcontracts from initial placement of order to final account.
  • Maintain registers of variations, delay, extension times and claims.

What do you bring to the role?

The Following Are Required

  • Successful experience at Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor level demonstrating effective core commercial skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with the project team including the Client, Project Managers and Designers
  • Have the confidence and ability to work within a team environment, and to have a positive influence on outcomes
  • Willing to help and assist those around you in their development
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Word

The Following Are Desirable Requirements

  • Early Contractor Involvement experience
  • Experience in NEC3 and NEC4 forms of contract
  • Experience of target cost contracts
  • Previous MEICA experience
  • Working towards CICES membership or equivalent
