The Role
This full-time position is based in Drax, North Yorkshire. You will manage the commercial and contractual obligations across all project phases, ensuring on-time delivery while maintaining robust cost control and contractual compliance.
Key Responsibilities

Project Commercial Leadership:
- Own all commercial and contractual requirements from briefing to completion.
- Act as the primary point of contact for the Client’s Commercial/Contract Team.

Procurement & Contract Management:
- Lead project procurement, including engaging and managing subcontractors.
- Conduct cost and risk analysis to mitigate financial exposure.

Communication & Contract Compliance:
- Review and escalate incoming correspondence (Employer, Design Team, legal/consultancy firms, subcontractors) to identify contractually critical items and draft responses.
- Clarify discrepancies with litigation firms and commercial team colleagues.

Commercial Management:
- Manage subcontractor agreements, valuations, and monthly project reports (cashflow, margins, valuation).
- Process cost variation orders, justify adjustments, and negotiate with the client.

Project Close-Out:
- Validate and agree final accounts for project completion.
Requirements
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree/Certification: A degree or recognized qualification in Construction Economics or Quantity Surveying.
- Experience: 8+ years as a Quantity Surveyor, with demonstrated leadership managing multi-million project valuations and accounts.
- Legal & Financial Acumen:
- In-depth understanding of contractual principles.
- Skilled in claims counteraction (both owner/subcontractor perspectives).
- Experience liens, liquidated damages, and complex cost interventions for multi-party projects.
- Sector Experience: Electrical or civil industry procurement, construction law, and MEP installation familiarity preferred.
- Relationships: Adept at influencing stakeholders across hierarchies.
- Execution: Deadline-driven with unwavering accuracy.
- Teamwork: Strong collaborator who leverages combined expertise.
