THE TEAM At JSM Group, we don’t just deliver power and communication solutions — we build the infrastructure that powers the future. Since 1998, we’ve grown into a high-margin, high-growth business backed by private equity, operating across gas, power, telecoms, and multi-utility frameworks. What makes us a bit different?

  • Long-term frameworks and major clients = stability
  • A commercial team that leads from the front, not just reports the numbers

  • Build and maintain strong subcontractor relationships – negotiating rates, assessing applications, and agreeing variations
  • Lead on tendering and bid submissions – including pricing, T&Cs, and commercial assessments
  • Own monthly valuations, applications for payment, and variations control
  • Produce accurate cost reports and CVRs across multiple high-value contracts
  • Implement and maintain strong commercial systems and recordkeeping
  • Proactively identify risks – and take action before they become issues
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to align commercial and project goals
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to a positive team culture WHAT IT TAKES
  • Solid experience in civil engineering or utilities

  • Hands-on leadership style with a proactive mindset
  • Comfortable negotiating and solving commercial challenges
  • Strong communicator with good stakeholder management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and commercial tools like Envision A full, valid UK driving licence and access to a car is essential for this role due to regular travel requirements between sites. WHAT WE OFFER YOU We truly value your work, time, and skills! In return, we will offer you a competitive salary and some additional benefits to support your professional growth, including:
  • Participation in mentoring and coaching programmes
  • 28 days of holiday (excluding bank holidays)
  • 2 paid volunteering days a year
  • Hybrid working pattern
  • Continuous training and development, in both technical and business skills
  • Clear progression path to MQS / Commercial Manager Equal Opportunity Statement JSM Group Services Ltd. is an equal opportunities employer and does not discriminate on the grounds of gender, sexual orientation, marital or civil partner status, pregnancy or maternity, gender reassignment, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, disability or age. I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
