Senior Quantity Surveyor – Staffordshire

Exclusive to Kitson Associates Salary: Up to £70,000 + Bonus + Car Allowance + Benefits

Our client, a well-established and fast-growing housing developer specialising in high-quality affordable homes across the Midlands, is expanding its commercial team.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to oversee project deliveries from pre-construction through to final account, ensuring profitability and alignment with business goals.


The Role

  • Reporting to: Commercial Manager
  • Focus: Full commercial management of multiple housing developments across Staffordshire
  • Objective: Deliver projects profitably while meeting organisational targets

These is no one-size-fits-all approach in our role. You will have ownership to determine how best to approach each project, but we expect you to fulfil clear business objectives and produce the best results possible.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full commercial lifecycle of projects:
    • From inception through pre-construction to final account settlement
  • Oversee financial aspects including:
    • Budget preparation & management
    • Cost forecasts & valuations
    • Cost planning for projects
  • Oversee procurement and management of:
    • Subcontractors
    • Suppliers
  • Administer financial relationships between the company and subcontractors, including:
    • Management of subcontractor accounts
    • Handling variations
    • Processing final accounts
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams:
    • Construction teams
    • Technical delivery
    • Land acquisition/management
  • Develop strong partnerships to realise outstanding results:
    • With Housing Associations
    • Local Authorities
    • Registered Providers
  • Support the delivery of affordable housing and partnership-led schemes to ensure value for clients

Ideal Candidate Requires

✅ Proven experience in a Senior Quantity Surveyor or equivalent role ✅ Strong background in:

  • Partnership housing
  • Affordable housing development
  • Residential building projects ✅ Desirable but advantageous experience in:
  • Extra Care Housing
  • Supported Living
  • Retirement Living
  • Specialist Residential Schemes ✅ Hands-on experience partnering with:
  • Housing Associations
  • Local Authorities
  • Registered Providers ✅ Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with precision ✅ Full UK Driving Licence (essential for site visits) ✅ Relevant experience in:
  • Regeneration projects
  • Brownfield site development
