About the Role
We are recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor (Cost Manager) to support our ambitious 2026 growth plans. This role is suited for both aspiring Quantity Surveyors still in the RICS journey and established Senior QSs looking to advance their careers, manage teams, and take on high-profile infrastructure projects across the UK.
In this dynamic role, you will partner with clients and internal teams to provide pre- and post-contract commercial management with a varied workload, such as:
Core Responsibilities
- Cost Management & Reporting:
- Oversee project budgets, track financial progress, and ensure financial accuracy.
- Contract Administration:
- Manage NEC3/4 and JCT contracts, including valuations, payments, and compliance.
- Procurement & Supplier Engagement:
- Support tendering processes to ensure value for money.
- Commercial Assurance:
- Audit projects, verify assumptions, and review financial compliance.
- Risk & Change Management:
- Identify financial risks and manage compensation events & variations.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and senior management.
- Software & Systems Expertise:
- Confident use of tools like Prism, CEMAR, CostX, and Viewpoint.
- Main & Subcontractor Management:
- Oversee project finances, ensuring adherence to contracts and sustainability standards.

Key Requirements
Experience & Skills
- Qualifications: At least an HNC, HND, or degree in relevant disciplines (e.g., Quantity Surveying, Construction Cost Management, or Construction Law).
- Professional Membership: Desirable to have qualifications and/or membership (e.g., RICS, CIOB, CICES, CIPS); Gleeds supports progress toward accreditation.
- Sector Expertise: 1+/2+ years in the UK infrastructure sector, with:
- Experience in pre- and post-contract commercial management.
- Knowledge of NEC3/4, JCT, and other contract frameworks.
- Leadership: Aptitude for mentoring junior QSs or cost managers (key desirable).
- Passion: Commitment to infrastructure, sustainability, and best-in-class work.
- Soft Skills: Outstanding communication, ability to build relationships rapidly, and resilience in project facilities.
