Senior Quantity Surveyor / Managing Surveyor - Design & Build Construction

Salary: £85,000 - £100,000 (depending on experience)
Location: Office-based with regular site visits
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent

An established and highly respected design and build contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Managing Surveyor to join its growing commercial team.
Delivering high-quality commercial, workplace, refurbishment, fit-out and construction projects across the UK, this is an excellent opportunity to join a business with an outstanding reputation for quality, innovation and long-term client relationships. The company provides a complete in-house service from design through to construction, working across a diverse range of sectors.
This role will suit a commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor looking to step into a Managing Surveyor position, or an experienced Managing Surveyor seeking a new challenge within a growing business.

The Role

You will take responsibility for the commercial management of multiple projects from pre-construction through to final account, ensuring financial performance, contractual compliance and successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the commercial delivery of multiple construction projects.
  • Prepare cost plans, budgets and valuations.
  • Manage subcontract procurement and negotiate packages.
  • Administer subcontract accounts, variations and final accounts.
  • Produce accurate cost reporting and forecasts.
  • Manage client valuations and applications for payment.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks.
  • Work closely with operational teams to maximise project profitability.
  • Provide commercial guidance and mentoring to junior surveyors where required.
  • Build and maintain strong client and subcontractor relationships.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Surveyor.
  • Background within commercial construction, refurbishment, fit-out or design & build projects.
  • Strong knowledge of JCT contracts.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and commercial software.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
