Senior Quantity Surveyor
Senior Cost Consultant / Quantity Surveyor – London & Southeast

We’re seeking a Senior Cost Consultant / Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial, residential (all classes), and mixed-use development projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team. As a key strategic partner, you’ll champion budget integrity and stakeholder alignment, from pre-contract feasibility through project completion.
This role is tailored for an ambitious professional who thrives on progress, delivering on some of London and the Southeast’s most significant commercial and residential schemes. Full training and mentorship are provided.
Guided by cost consultancy best practices, your work will ensure sustainable deliverability, including:
- Preparing budgets, cost plans, and cost benchmarking reports.
- Conducting feasibility due diligence, tender analyses, and contract collation.
- Managing contract procurement and advising on contractual frameworks.
- Leading post-contract cost administration, final-account negotiations, and claims analysis.
Responsibilities
Your core responsibilities will include:
Project Cost Leadership
- Deliver cost consultancy for prime and affordable residential (all classes), hotels, offices, commercial developments, sports/leisure, and retrofitting works—ensuring they align to budget, quality, and time metrics across all RIBA stages.
- Provide timely and accurate cost valuations, change control, and reporting.

Key Outputs
- Cost planning, estimating, and final account adjustments for efficient financial delivery.
- Specialist procurement and contractual advice, including JCT and NEC contract suites.
- Claims analysis to safeguard client value and project integrity.
Operational Expertise
- Source, analyse, and interpret project data to prepare proactive reports and project financial monitoring.
- Implement budget variance control measures to align delivery with strategic objectives.
- Escalate project cost risks proactively, ensuring comprehensive issue resolution.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Bridge technical and commercial teams to support cross-organisation project delivery.
- Work across layers of oversight, fulfilling professional oversight tasks to supervise fellow team members and project stakeholders.
Requirements
Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in £40M+—£80M+ project cost management, including commercial and residential market sectors.
- MRICS registration (or equivalent) along with a Relevant degree in construction, surveying/supply chain management.
- Lead responsibility for cost and compatibility risk mitigation in large-scale development scenarios.
- Deep understanding of the JCT (Standard/Intermediate) contract terms, with basic knowledge of NEC contracts an advantage.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication to cohesively liaise with clients, contractors, peers, and senior stakeholders.
