Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Support the Delivery of High-Quality Healthcare Service

    • Ensure all patients receive a high standard of service delivery.
  • Supervision of Junior Staff and Students

    • Participate in out-of-hours work.
    • Rotate throughout the radiology department (X-ray, A&E x-ray, fluoroscopy, interventional radiology, CT, MRI).
  • Professional Development

    • Participate in a periodic professional development review, in accordance with Trust guidelines.
  • Teamwork

    • Work cohesively with all members of the Radiology department to ensure the best services are provided to patients at all times.
    • Work effectively within a multi-racial and cultural environment.
  • Radiographic Duties

    • Undertake all radiographic duties efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
    • Ensure that all patients receive the best possible standard of care.
    • Commitment to ensuring own development by exposing self to all necessary modalities.
  • Specialized Techniques

    • Become proficient in the more specialized techniques e.g. CT, IR, and MRI.
    • To be conversant with procedures in general and screening rooms, ED, mobile, and theatre radiography.
  • Radiation Protection

    • Ensure that Radiation Protection guidelines, IR(ME)R, IRR, etc. guidelines and local rules are strictly adhered to.

  • Training and Communication

    • Assist with practical training of junior staff and student radiographers, acting as a role model through leading by example.
    • Communicate with other staff members to ensure the smooth running of the directorate.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability

    • To demonstrate flexibility and adaptability with rostering requirements to ensure a robust and safe imaging service across the Trust.
    • Participate in the out-of-hours, on-call, and standby rotas as required.
    • To offer an initial assessment and interpretation of images produced by themselves or more junior staff in the course of their role.
