Role Overview

Kaze Consulting is growing, driven by rising demand from clients who want to move beyond the promise of AI and apply it to solve complex, real-world problems that matter.

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Senior R&D Engineer to drive advancements across AI, Cyber Security, and Data Science. This role will focus on developing cutting-edge solutions, transitioning early-stage research into practical applications, and contributing to the organisation’s research leadership and commercial success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to research and development initiatives across AI, Cyber Security, and Data Science domains
  • Collaborate closely with the wider data and engineering teams to design, test, and validate innovative solutions
  • Support business development and bid writing by providing technical insights, research direction, and innovation-led contributions
  • Drive the maturation of solutions through Technology Readiness Levels (TRL), from early-stage concepts (TRL1) to validated prototypes and demonstrators (TRL7)
  • Disseminate research findings through academic publications, industry conferences, whitepapers, and technical forums
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and academic research in relevant domains to inform innovation strategy

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical breadth with familiarity across full-stack development
  • Solid understanding of computer science research methodologies, including experimental design, evaluation, and validation
  • Experience in applying theoretical knowledge to real-world, applied research challenges
  • Ability to translate early-stage research towards scalable, production-ready solutions
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams

Experience Required

  • Demonstrated experience in an applied research or R&D-focused role
  • Proven track record of contributing to or authoring academic publications, technical reports, or equivalent outputs
  • Experience delivering innovation within industry or commercial environments is highly desirable

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field (required)
  • Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Data Science, or a related discipline (required)
  • PhD in Computer Science or a relevant technical field (strongly preferred)
  • Must either already hold or be eligible and willing to undertake Security Clearance
