Senior R&D Tax Consultant

Senior R&D Tax Consultant – Knight R&D

Knight R&D is seeking Senior R&D Tax Consultants with an up-to-date understanding of R&D tax legislation and DSIT Guidelines. Join our ambitious, collaborative team of R&D Tax Incentive professionals, spanning expertise in corporation tax, software, IT, science, and engineering.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven track record in efficiently delivering end-to-end R&D claims, both independently and through teamwork. Knight is a market leader, trusted by large-scale industry-leading corporations, and as part of the K3 Capital Group, we leverage an extensive network to secure new business. Our team encourages professional growth through direct mentorship by senior colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan R&D claim processes and methodologies
  • Collaborate effectively within project teams, showcasing strong communication and adaptability to diverse skill sets
  • Lead client meetings with technical specialists and financial teams to gather essential information for claim submissions
  • Manage and develop client relationships while overseeing a portfolio of R&D tax clients
  • Compile full R&D claim documentation, from costing to technical validation, for HMRC submissions
  • Respond to HMRC enquiries as required

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience (ideally 2–3 years) in R&D tax relief
  • Degree-qualified (preferably in IT, science, or engineering)
  • Strong ability to simplify and communicate technical and commercial concepts verbally and in writing
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Robust project management ability, balancing multiple live accounts simultaneously
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous learning, networking, and skill development
  • Experience mentoring junior colleagues where needed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

What We Offer

  • Salary range: £45,000–£60,000 (based on location, experience, qualifications, and skills) + bonuses
  • Hybrid working: 2 days per week in either our London or Liverpool office
