Senior Recruitment Consultant (US Market)

Hamilton, South Lanarkshire
Permanent, office based

Salary:

£25,000 to £35,000 basic.
Realistic year one: £75,000 to £100,000.
New consultants average £70,000+ year one.
Top earner last year: £135,000.

Your effort deserves more

If you are an experienced recruiter, you already do the hard part. The calls, the headhunting, the process management, the deals that die on a Friday afternoon. The problem is not your effort. It is the economics of the desk you do it on & you deserve more.

Compare your current desk to this one:

  • Your average fee now: probably £4,000 to £12,000.
    Ours: $35,000.
  • Your commission: likely 15 to 25% of what's left after a monthly threshold.
Ours: 10% to 15% of everything you bill, from your first placement, no threshold.
  • Your business development: cold calling companies that treat you as one of six agencies on the role.
Ours: none. We hold $1.7m+ in retained contracts and client demand exceeds our delivery capacity.
  • Your clients: whoever picks up.
Ours: American private equity backed platforms between $50m and $1bn+ in revenue, where we are the embedded talent partner, not a supplier on a list.

Same effort. Different arithmetic.

The numbers that matter

  • Lowest earner in this office last year: £55,000.
    Highest: £135,000
  • Six consultants here have each billed over $1m in fees
  • $2.7m+ billed for a single private equity client across 100+ roles
  • 95% of new starters earn their first commission within four weeks
  • Recent joiners took home £16,500 in a single month in June 2026

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What the desk looks like

You will run retained and exclusive search assignments across the US commercial roofing and construction sector: Presidents, General Managers, VPs of Sales, Estimators, Superintendents, Project Managers, Sales Managers, etc. You will headhunt senior operators directly, present shortlists to CEOs and PE operating partners, and manage offers through to placement across markets like Texas, Florida, New York, Tennessee and the Carolinas.

  • No canvassing.
  • No PSL scraps.
  • No splitting fees six ways.

Where the money actually comes from

Our average placement fee is $35,000, paid by the client. You earn 10% to 15% of everything you bill with no threshold to clear, plus quarterly bonuses at circa £5,000+, uncapped. Run the maths against your current desk: one placement here out-earns a month on most Glasgow perm desks.

The hours, and why

  • Monday to Thursday 11.30am to 8.30pm with a 90 minute break for the gym or whatever resets you.
  • Friday finishes at 5.30pm.

We work these hours because our clients are five to eight hours behind us. Your mornings are yours. If you want a 9 to 5, this is genuinely not the role.

What you get beyond the money

  • Talent America Academy, our in house development programme led by our Director of Performance, plus externally delivered performance and mindset coaching
  • A written progression path: Consultant to Team Lead to Client Manager to Director, tied to billing milestones agreed when you start, with a route to equity for those who build with us
  • RTA Experiences: team trips to Gleneagles, Glasgow Nights Out, including US travel to the markets you recruit for: Texas, California and New York among them
  • A part in the mission of RTA: a business that started with a dream, a laptop and a £15 whiteboard in 2016 and now is a multi million dollar international recruitment firm.
  • The ambition from here is bigger. You would be joining the climb, not the peak.
  • Compassion: Real people who understand that sometimes life gets in the way. When it does, we won't throw the book at you.

What this is not

  • It is not remote.
  • It is not a rebadged version of the desk you are on.
  • The earnings ranges at the top are commission inclusive and depend entirely on output. We would rather tell you that now than have you find out in month two.

How to apply

Apply with whatever you have, or just get in touch. The process is two stages: a confidential call, then a visit to the office in Hamilton to meet the team and see the operation for yourself. We respond to every application within three working days.

If you are good at this job and tired of the maths, this is the fix.
