Senior Registered Nurse – Outpatients

Senior Registered Nurse (Outpatients) – Three Shires Hospital

Role Overview

A part-time (22.5 hours/week) Permanent Senior Registered Nurse opportunity is available at Three Shires Hospital, Northampton, part of Circle Health Group—Britain's largest independent healthcare provider.

Base pay: Up to £39,995.00 FTE per year, based on experience, training, and qualifications.

About the Role

This dynamic role involves supporting a team in the Outpatients department, working across a flexible shift pattern (covering 8am–8.30pm Mon–Fri and 8am–4pm weekends/key weekends).

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care, leading patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for complex cases.
  • Apply advanced clinical expertise to make timely decisions, escalating where necessary while adhering to NMC and local protocols.
  • Safely administer medication and monitor patient responses, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards.
  • Delegate tasks efficiently to manage workloads safely, supporting shift-based teamwork.
  • Maintain a culture of safety through:
    • Infection prevention
    • Safeguarding procedures
    • Medicines management
    • Risk reporting protocols
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients and families, providing:
    • Clinical updates
    • Reassurance
    • Education for shared decision-making.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care transitions across services.

Requirements

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Active NMC (Nursing & Midwifery Council) registration as an Adult Nurse.
  • Substantial post-registration experience in acute or relevant clinical environments.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and support nursing teams.
  • Strong clinical decision-making, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with:
    • A compassionate, patient-centred approach.
    • Confidence to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Senior/administrative experience highly desirable.
