Job Summary

A Senior Psychological Practitioner role with clinical supervision responsibilities in the North West Psychological Service (NWPS). The successful candidate will deliver clinical and forensic psychology services within prisons and probation settings, including clinical consultation, establishment psychology lead (EPL) duties, and supervision of trainee psychologists. Security clearance and membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS) are essential.

About the Role

The North West Psychological Service (NWPS) is a specialised team providing psychological assessment, intervention, and consultancy across:

  • Two prison groups:
    • Cumbria, Lancashire and Greater Manchester/Merseyside/Cheshire
  • Two probation regions:
    • North West and Greater Manchester

The team supports multiple high-security prisons, reception centres, resettlement facilities, and community-based interventions through:

  • Assessment and intervention with adult male prisoners
  • Training, consultancy, and research across correctional facilities
  • Clinical input into:
    • Pre-Release Prisoner Interviews (PIPEs)
    • Progression Regimes
    • Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) core management consultations
  • Specialist interventions such as the accredited programme "Building Choices"
  • Community services supporting offenders with indeterminate sentences through collaboration with:
    • Probation services
    • Approved housing schemes
    • Pre-release planning

Key Responsibilities

The post holder will:

  • Act as an Establishment Psychology Lead (EPL) delivering strategic psychological oversight across sites.
  • Serve as a point of contact for NPS workstreams,
