Our Team
At Semtech Corporation, innovation is at the heart of everything we do. Our advanced semiconductor technologies power some of the world’s most critical communications infrastructure, high-performance connectivity solutions, and next-generation electronic systems used across industrial, automotive, data centre, and IoT markets worldwide.
As our product portfolio continues to evolve and expand, ensuring exceptional product quality and long-term reliability has never been more important. To support the successful development and release of increasingly complex semiconductor technologies, we are continuing to strengthen our Reliability Engineering function within our global engineering organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly collaborative team responsible for ensuring our products meet the highest standards of performance, quality, and reliability before reaching customers around the world.
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and technically driven Staff / Senior Staff Reliability Engineer to join our growing engineering team and play a critical role in bringing advanced semiconductor products successfully through the New Product Introduction (NPI) process from early definition through to production release.
In this role, you will take ownership of product reliability qualification activities, working closely with cross-functional engineering teams to design, execute, analyse, and report on reliability testing programs that directly impact product quality, customer confidence, and long-term product performance.
You will work across design, product engineering, test engineering, quality, manufacturing, and failure analysis teams to investigate qualification failures, predict product lifetime performance, and ensure reliability commitments are successfully delivered throughout the development lifecycle.
This is a high-impact technical role offering the opportunity to work on cutting-edge semiconductor technologies within a global engineering organisation focused on innovation and engineering excellence.
Responsibilities
Lead the planning and execution of product reliability qualification activities for new semiconductor products, process changes, and customer-driven qualification requests, including data analysis and formal technical reporting. (20%) Partner with Design, Product Engineering, Test Engineering, and Failure Analysis teams to investigate reliability qualification failures, identify root causes, and provide recommendations for corrective actions and product improvements. (20%) Perform product reliability modelling, lifetime calculations, and failure mechanism analysis using stress test data, ongoing reliability monitoring data, and field reliability performance information. (20%) Collaborate with Design Engineering, Test Engineering, and external vendors to design and develop reliability test hardware including HTOL and HAST boards used for qualification testing programs. (15%) Support Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and Quality teams in evaluating manufacturing issues that may impact product reliability and assist with technical disposition decisions relating to held manufacturing lots. (15%) Review and maintain alignment with evolving semiconductor industry reliability standards including JEDEC, AEC, ESDA, IPC and other qualification frameworks while supporting customer requests relating to qualification data, FIT rates, and technical reliability inquiries. I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
