Role Overview: Strategic Renewals Lead

Box renews thousands of customers, generating hundreds of millions of dollars in subscriptions annually. For our largest and most strategic clients, renewal isn’t just about holding onto a contract—it’s about reinforcing relationships, ensuring customer satisfaction, and expanding revenue.

In this role, you will collaborate across Sales, Customer Success, and internal stakeholders (accounting, legal, deal desk, etc.) to:

  • Develop and execute renewal strategies tailored to high-value accounts.
  • Communicate effectively with strategic customers, aligning their needs with Box’s AI-powered solutions.
  • Negotiate complex deals, refining pricing models, terms and conditions, proposals, and contracts.
  • Maximize expansion opportunities, ensuring multi-year commitments and revenue growth.
  • Accurately forecast monthly and quarterly outcomes in SFDC.

You’ll balance customer empathy with Box’s vision, turning renewals into strategic partnerships.


Key Responsibilities

Customer Engagement & Expansion

  • Engage with Box’s most strategic customers to ensure seamless renewal experiences and a valve of current and future content cloud benefits.
  • Conduct consultative discovery conversations to uncover account expansion opportunities, strengthen retaining investments, and negotiate multi-year subscription opportunities.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

  • Coordinate across a multi-functional team, including:
    • Accounting/Finance
    • Professional Services
    • Account Executives
    • Customer Success
    • Channel Management
    • Legal
    • Deal Desk (contract sign-off)
  • Ensure alignment across teams to maximize revenue during renewal periods.

Documentation & Closure

  • Create comprehensive proposals and contracts.
  • Manage full agreement to closure, including quote preparation and signature execution.

Analytical Forecasting

  • Accurately track and forecast renewal outcomes on a granular basis in SFDC.
  • Leverage data-driven insights to refine strategy and improve outcomes.

Who You Are: Where Strategy Meets Commerce

  • Leverage AI to impact your work: Acknowledge that AI and advanced analytics can 10X your effectiveness. Propose it for illuminated decision-making—from black-tie negotiations to expanding the deal structure.
  • Navigate high-dollar deals: 5+ years of experience in:
    • Negotiating $100K–$1M enterprise sales with complex commercial terms.
    • Handling B2B enterprise account management, renewals, or customer-facing roles.
    • Procurement/contracting or similarly dynamic commercial activities.
  • Own consumable pricing: Gold-star advantage if you’ve worked with consumption-based models (AI units, API calls) or variable demand models.
  • Strategic agility: Ability to marry customer culture and internal alignment with Box’s directional priorities.

Oral & Written Communication

Your ability to articulate complex ideas simply — whether convincing a VP of technology, lettering an internal team, or writing a pitch — will separate you. Like every Box role, this is hands-on: champions thrive at the intersection of relationship and price sensitivity.

  • A hunger to merge data and relationships, precisely managing the stress between firm commitment and flexibility.
