ABOUT THE JOB
The Role
As Senior Reporter, you will play a central role in delivering agenda-setting, high-quality and commercially relevant content across the C&IT brand. You will produce daily news, interviews, features and analysis across digital channels, and contribute to original research reports, helping to grow audience engagement while maintaining the highest editorial standards.
Working closely with the Senior Editor, you will support delivery of the editorial strategy by breaking exclusive stories, identifying compelling content opportunities and contributing to newsletters, social media and live event coverage. You will build strong relationships across the meetings, incentives, conferences and events (MICE) industry to ensure C&IT remains a trusted source of news, insight and industry intelligence.
You will also support the C&IT Live events portfolio through event coverage, content development and moderation, where appropriate.
This is a hybrid role working partly in-office and partly out in the field or travelling to report on launches, campaigns and industry meetings.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Editorial Content & Journalism
- Research, write and publish accurate, engaging and high-quality news stories, features, interviews and analysis across C&IT's digital platforms.
- Growing C&IT’s social presence and following.
- Identify and develop exclusive stories and original content that supports audience engagement and strengthens the brand's reputation.
- Generate innovative editorial ideas that contribute to the delivery of the agreed content strategy.
- Commission, edit and manage contributions from freelance journalists and external contributors where required.
- Ensure all content is produced in line with editorial standards, brand guidelines and legal requirements.
Audience Engagement & Digital Delivery
- Produce and manage the daily editorial newsletters using the Company's content management systems.
- Support the delivery of C&IT's social media activity, ensuring content is promoted effectively across relevant channels.
- Use audience insights and performance data to help inform editorial decisions and maximise audience engagement.
- Contribute to the achievement of audience growth and engagement targets.
Events & Industry Engagement
- Attend and report from C&IT events, including forums, awards, conferences, and attend certain external industry events.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key contacts across the meetings, incentives, conferences and events (MICE) industry.
- Support the development of event content and moderate or chair sessions where appropriate.
- Represent the C&IT brand professionally at industry events and networking opportunities.
Operational Support
- Monitor and manage the editorial inbox, responding to or directing enquiries as appropriate.
- Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the editorial function, including administrative tasks where required.
- Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive and high-performing editorial culture.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties consistent with the responsibilities of the role.
Key Relationships
As Senior Reporter you will work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective delivery of business objectives. This includes working closely with the Senior Editor.

Knowledge
As Senior Reporter you are expected to demonstrate:
- Good understanding of digital journalism and multi-platform content production.
- Knowledge of editorial best practice, media law and publishing standards.
- Understanding of audience engagement, analytics and digital performance metrics.
- Good knowledge of social media platforms and their use within a B2B publishing environment.
- Knowledge of the meetings, incentives, conferences and events (MICE) sector, or the ability to develop this quickly.
- Understanding of the relationship between editorial, commercial, marketing and live events functions.
Skills
- Excellent writing, interviewing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Strong news sense and editorial judgement.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to research, analyse and communicate complex information clearly and accurately.
- High level of computer literacy, including content management systems, publishing software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong social media and digital content creation skills.
Experience
- Experience producing high-quality editorial content within a magazine, digital or B2B publishing environment.
- Experience writing news, features and interviews to tight deadlines.
- Experience commissioning or editing external contributors is desirable.
- Experience using content management systems, newsletter platforms and social media channels.
- Experience attending and reporting from industry events or conferences.
- Experience building professional relationships with industry stakeholders and contacts.

- Consistent delivery of high-quality, accurate and engaging editorial content across C&IT’s digital channels, including news, features, interviews, analysis, newsletters and live event coverage.
- Successful generation of exclusive stories, commercially relevant content and strong editorial output that supports audience growth, engagement and agreed performance measures, including registrations, newsletter engagement and content performance.
- Strong contribution to the delivery of the editorial strategy and content plan, including identifying content opportunities, supporting C&IT’s live events portfolio and building effective industry relationships that enhance the brand’s reputation and reach.
- Delivery of work to agreed quality standards and deadlines, while collaborating effectively with colleagues across editorial and the wider business.
- Compliance with editorial standards, legal requirements and Company policies at all times.
