Role Overview
As Senior Reporter, you will be a key player in the Insurance Post editorial team, helping to shape coverage of the UK general insurance market.
You will contribute to a wide range of editorial output, developing your journalistic expertise while producing high-impact content that resonates with a senior professional audience.
Key Accountabilities
As Senior Reporter, you will be responsible for breaking exclusive news, securing interviews with senior industry figures, and delivering insightful features and data analysis on emerging trends and developments in the general insurance market.

- Writing exclusive news stories and in-depth analysis pieces
- Curating and sending email news alerts
- Staying on top of developments in the general insurance industry and explaining complex subjects clearly and comprehensively
- Developing original and compelling story ideas, including creative formats such as charts, infographics, video, polls, podcasts, and other multimedia content
- Engaging professionally with key industry players in person and via social channels, using these interactions to generate content
- Working collaboratively with editorial and wider business colleagues
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Experience in local journalism or business-to-business journalism
- Proven writing, research, and editing skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent, accurate writing across a range of formats
- Experience developing and shaping stories from concept to publication
- Ability to identify new angles and innovative ways to cover topics and issues
- Knowledge of relevant data sources, industry developments, and key contacts
- Enthusiasm, energy, and a collaborative mindset
- Strong initiative and the ability to perform well in a fast-paced newsroom environment
Additional skills (desirable):
- An established network of general insurance industry contacts
- Knowledge and experience of using SEO to grow and engage readership
