The Role

FT Specialist is looking for a senior reporter to join Sustainable Views, a leading business-to-business publication focused on sustainability rules and regulations, and the changing geopolitics influencing the laws covering environmental, social and governance issues.

This role offers the chance to join a growing editorial team and bring new value to readers in one of the most exciting beats in business journalism.

The reporter will be responsible for writing news stories, insightful analysis and carrying out interviews that get to the heart of the issues impacting sustainability regulations and their implementation. They will also be required to take part in video and social media content for Sustainable Views

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the editor and the rest of the team to write news stories, insightful analysis and carry out interviews.
  • Appear on the Sustainable Views podcast.
  • Help develop the media offerings from Sustainable Views — including innovative social media posts, audio and visual content.
  • Develop contacts book.
  • Attend key events.
  • Carry out editing if and when required.
  • Pick up other tasks as and when required by the editors.

Required Skills / Experience

  • At least five years experience of reporting and of working in a fast paced newsroom environment and the ability to work independently and in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Understanding of sustainable finance and knowledge of market-based solutions to climate change.
  • Decent contacts book of sustainability investors, finance institutions.
  • Ability to produce high-quality written copy.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to be flexible in terms of working hours, as and when necessary.

Desired skills/experience

  • A degree or equivalent experience in journalism/data journalism.
  • Knowledge of sustainability regulations, climate change, human rights, environmental legislation and policymaking.
  • Good numeracy skills.
  • Knowledge and ability to use AI tools to analyse data.

  • Confident with numbers and language.
  • Excited by data and what the analysis of data can bring to our readers.
  • Interested in sustainable finance, politics and regulation.
  • Excited by the use of audio, video and social media to bring our articles to new audiences.

We currently operate a hybrid model which requires staff to work onsite 50% of the time, subject to role requirements & regular review.
