Senior Research Associate, Clinical Biomarker Laboratory, Immunoassays

Immunoassay Scientist – Clinical Trials

Location: Harwell, UK (On-site Primary Role) Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Role

Joining Moderna means advancing mRNA science to transform medicine. Working with exceptional global teams across a broad pipeline, you’ll shape a career with immediate, meaningful impact on patients.

This Immunoassay Scientist role is based at the Harwell site, where you’ll play a pivotal role in advancing Moderna’s clinical development programmes. As part of the Immunoassays group, you will:

  • Develop, qualify, validate, and execute functional immunoassays supporting GCP clinical trials.
  • Generate high-quality scientific data that informs decision-making across multiple therapeutic areas.
  • Collaborate closely in a fast-paced laboratory setting, driving assay innovation and compliance excellence.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Immunoassay UK, you will align scientific rigor with operational efficiency while contributing to reassuring progress toward clinical and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Core Laboratory Work

  • Support assay development, qualification, validation, and GCP sample testing across diverse therapeutic areas.
  • Design and execute functional assay experiments, independently generating high-quality scientific data.
  • Operate with calibrated precision, delivering reliable results on schedule.
  • As a process owner, maintain accurate batch records, logs, and documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to risk-based compliance (GCP, GLP, ISO standards).

Technical & Scientific Partners

  • Interpret experimental results, summarize findings, and communicate insights to cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare clear, accurate reports, SOPs, and experimental protocols, reducing ambiguity in documentation.
  • Validate sample-wide precision and safety; troubleshoot quality-related deviations with the Scientific Lead.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
