Applications are invited for a senior research associate to join Prof Laurenti's research group. The team combine state-of-the-art experimental and computational methods to study the unique biological and molecular properties of human Haematopoietic Stem Cells (HSCs) across the lifespan.

The post holder will lead a project centring on the role of metabolism in regulating human HSC function. The scope of the project is to identify novel metabolic axes which control human HSC function ex vivo, with the goal to improve the use of HSC for clinical applications.

The successful candidate is expected to co-design the project and conduct experiments independently and with a team of experimentalists and/or computational biologists (potentially including postgraduate students) they will supervise. They are also expected to manage the budget of the project, as well as identify and apply for new funding. They will also effectively communicate their work in writing and oral presentations at internal meetings and international conferences.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
