rocksalisary £32,061 - £36,363* Per Annum | Permanent, Full Time 37 hours per week | Central Lancashire

Tax-free enhancements included for: shift work, weekend working and sleep-in duty

About the Role

As part of Where Our Children Live, our Residential Service is expanding, with a new home in Morecambe and Lancaster seeking Senior Residential Child Care Workers.

This project forms a core part of our strategy to modernise and grow residential childcare across Lancashire, ensuring safe and supportive homes for children in need.

As a Senior Residential Child Care Worker, you’ll present a calming, guiding presence for our children while leading care teams and ensuring legal and safeguarding requirements are met.


Your Responsibilities

You’ll:

  • Lead by example as a shift leader, providing direction and support
  • Champion care, safety, and developmental plans for children with complex needs
  • Create and uphold care plans, education strategies, and emotional wellbeing programs
  • Mentor staff to uphold high care standards
  • Contribute to safeguarding policies, care review processes, and Ofsted inspections

Note: This role involves a mixed rota, including evening shifts, weekends, and sleep-in duties.


About You

To succeed in this role, you should:

  • Have at least 3 years’ experience in children’s social care or residential settings
  • Hold a QCF Level 4 qualification or equivalent (NVQ Level 3/4) in Childcare
  • Demonstrate expertise in shift leadership, capacity building, and staff mentoring
  • Have in-depth knowledge of safeguarding laws and children’s rights
  • Be compassionate, resilient, and deeply committed to improving young lives
