Senior Residential Child Care Workers and Residential Childcare Workers – Monroe House
About the Role Monroe House is a specialist, trauma-informed children's home in Chorley, supporting young people aged 11–18 years with complex emotional, behavioural, and mental health needs. This full-time, permanent role (37 hours per week) attracts a salary of £32,061 - £36,363 per annum, with additional enhancements for shift work, weekend working, and sleep-in duty.

Essential Requirements
To join our dedicated team, you will have:
- A strong understanding of trauma, attachment, and child/adolescent mental health
- Awareness of how early experiences impact behaviour, emotional regulation, and relationships
- Knowledge of safeguarding and risk management in complex care settings
- Previous experience working with children or young people with emotional or mental health needs (e.g., residential care, CAMHS, education, or youth work)
- Confidence in calmly managing distress, crisis situations, or dysregulated behaviour safely
- Skills to build trusting, therapeutic relationships with young people who may wary of authority figures
- The ability to thrive in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
- Commitment to reflective practice, continuous learning, and professional development

Key Responsibilities
Your role as a residential carer will emphasise trauma-informed, therapeutic interventions:
- Provide daily care through a structured, supportive framework
- Cultivate consistent, emotionally ached relationships that prioritise safety and stability
- Contribute to individualised care planning based on psychological and behavioural assessments
- Collaborate closely with clinical colleagues and external professionals (e.g., therapists, psychologists)
- Foster a positive, stable home environment where young people feel valued, respected, and secure
