Senior Residential Child Care Worker – Pause & Reflect Home
Salary: £32,061 - £36,363 per annum (plus shift, weekend, and sleep-in enhancements) Location: Skelmersdale Contract: Permanent, Full Time (37 hours/week) | Rota-based: Mixed shifts (days, evenings, weekends)

About the Role
As a Senior Residential Child Care Worker (RCCW), you’ll lead and support a team to provide exceptional care, safety, and development for young people with complex needs. Your responsibilities will include:
- Championing care plans, education, and emotional wellbeing
- Supporting safeguarding, inspections, and compliance
- Acting as a role model for best practice, compassion, and integrity
- Leading, motivating, and supervising practitioners (including overnight/weekend shifts)
- Supporting vulnerable young people (ages 11–17) in short-term placements
The Pause & Reflect Home (2-bedroom setting) will serve young people in urgent need of accommodation with no other alternatives. Caring for them with dedication will be critical.

- Target age group: Young people aged 11–17.
- Placement type: Short-term (requires flexibility, resilience, and commitment).
- Support needs: Focused on urgent care where conventional options are unavailable.

Key Responsibilities
As the Senior RCCW, you’ll:
- Lead shifts as a shift leader, ensuring smooth operations.
- Champion care for children with complex needs, safeguarding, and development.
- Implement and support individual care plans, education plans, and emotional wellbeing strategies.
- Mentor and supervise staff, ensuring adherence to high practice standards.
- Participate in inspections, safeguarding audits, and care planning.
About You
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in children’s social care or residential settings.
- Qualified to QCF Level 4 or NVQ Level 3/4 (or equivalent).
Preferred Skills:
- Proven ability to lead shifts and supervise staff effectively as a team manager.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and children’s legislation.
- Resilience, compassion, and commitment.
- Ability to foster confidence and independence in young people.
- Excellent organisational skills for handling complex duty cases.
