Salary & Location
- £32,061 - £36,363 per annum* (plus enhancements for shift work, weekend working and sleep-in duty)
- Permanent, Full-Time (37 hours weekly)
- Location: Lancaster
About the Role
As part of the "Where Our Children Live" programme, we’re recruiting dedicated Senior Residential Child Care Workers to lead and support a team at our new SPACE Hub (Supporting and Preventing Additional Care Experiences) in Lancaster.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of Hub Practitioners during overnight rotations (weekdays, weekends, sleep-ins).
- Champion the care, safety, and development of children with complex needs, including:
- Implementing care plans and safeguarding measures.
- Promoting educational and emotional wellbeing.
- Supporting reunification and stabilisation of care arrangements.
- Serve as a role model for best practice, exhibiting integrity, compassion, and expertise in childcare.
- Oversee inspections, safeguarding, and care planning.
About SPACE Hub
The SPACE Hubs deliver a fresh, community-oriented approach to care, offering:
- Diversion from care (preventative family support).
- Reunification (helping children return to families).
- Stabilisation (strengthening foster care/Special Guardian arrangements).
- Tailored support (expanded Pause and Reflect protocols, homeless young people aged 16–17).

Requirements

| Qualifications | Minimum QCF Level 4 or NVQ Level 3/4 in a relevant field. |
| Expertise | 3+ years in children’s social care or residential settings. |
| Leadership Skills | Ability to lead shifts, mentor staff, and manage risk. |
| Legislation Knowledge | Confident in children’s safeguarding laws and legislative duties. |
