Senior Residential Support Worker
Children’s Residential Senior Support Worker (Team Leader) Walsall Wood From £16/hr + £50 sleep-in pay Children’s Residential Care Company
About the Role
This is an excellent professional opportunity for a Team Leader to join a well-known Children’s Residential Care Organisation in Walsall Wood. The employer is dedicated to ensuring every child is part of an inclusive community, not disadvantaged.

As Team Leader at Walsall Wood Home, you will act as a supervisory professional for both staff and the children placed in care.
Key Responsibilities

Leadership in Execution & Delegation
- Lead and supervise care staff in our residential setting for children
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development to help colleagues thrive

Compliance & Safeguarding
- Ensure staff adhere to internal policies, safeguarding, welfare, and Ofsted standards
- Conduct appraisal reviews, performance discussions, and conduct staff meetings
- Monitor compliance relating to legislation, risk assessments, and organizational policies

Direct & Holistic Support to Children
- Develop and maintain individual care plans & daily logs tailored per child
- Act as a point of first response for incidents, safeguarding concerns, or disclosures
- Provide upskilling & emotional support, promoting independence and positive behaviours
- Support education, structured activities, social interaction, and therapy needs

Crisis Resolution & Support To Management
- Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviours in children
- Complex challenging behaviour interventions including restorative practice
- Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams (social workers, teachers, tutors, therapists)
Essential Requirements
✳ Qualifications
- Isolated NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Residential/Childcare practice
- Safeguarding-trained professional with experience/success in Child Protection-procedures
✳ Experience
- At least 2 years within child residential services
- Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity (e.g. head of setting, deputy manager)
✳ Soft Skills & Traits
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient when working with vulnerable children with complex needs
- Clear written & verbal communicators (including portfolio reporting)
- Ability to manage stressful situations and work fluidly with unpredictable populations
