About The Role

As a Senior RF Engineer, the candidate will support the design, deployment and optimisation of our wireless mobile solutions across the HS2 project. The Senior RF Engineer will work in a multi-discipline design team to design solutions that meet customers’ needs. You will lead the cellular RF design of trackside macro cell sites serving millions of passengers every year.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Carry out RF design for trackside macro cellular site infrastructure including antennas, RF feeders, RET control and remote radio installations.
  • Perform RF modelling, link budgets and design using Atoll and other planning tools, including creation of coverage/quality simulations and throughput estimations.
  • Modify clutter/DTM data as required to model the future final configuration of HS2 to ensure simulation accuracy.
  • Perform iterative system optimisation to ensure RF quality is maximised, and handovers are optimal for the high-speed rail environment.
  • Review results, drawings and reports conducted by others.
  • Collaborate with UK MNOs to co-ordinate site design and parameters. Lead optimisation activities to manage interference from external macro sites and minimise capture of unwanted external users.
  • Aid in the development of bespoke antenna solutions by defining requirements performance parameters required to meet the system requirement.
  • Develop design criteria/requirements, system dimensioning, link budget and traffic analysis.
  • Create low level designs including Bills of Materials, cable schedules and detailed system configuration diagrams, ensuring costs are closely controlled throughout the design process.
  • Understand the wider context of the design and ensure external interfaces are considered working with other team members to implement an integrated design.
  • Ensure designs are dimensioned for current demand and scalable to adapt for future growth and changes in MNO requirements.
  • Participate in equipment co-ordination sessions with HS2 stakeholders and partners ensuring the needs of the RF design are represented in decision-making and minimise design change.
  • Complete RAMS and abide by company H&S policy
  • Work with project managers and co-ordinators to deliver projects on time and on budget.
  • Liaise with customers, presenting designs to clients, stakeholders and project teams
  • Complete any Handover Packs, Post Integration Reports and Design Reports on agreed timescales and report templates
  • Provide estimates on resources required for particular tasks
  • Updating any internal reporting system as required
  • Familiarisation of all company documentation, especially ISO procedures

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
